Today, is day 2 of our GoCity passes, aka the day of cruises. Winnie started her day with the signature Hawaii McDonald’s breakfast. Rice, egg’s and spam.

We were getting nervous though, the first uber assigned to us cancelled, and the second picked up the order when he wasn’t finished his previous drop off yet, and was driving further and further from us. Fortunately, we had left quite a bit of buffer, and arrived just in time.

First cruise of the day was Whale Watching. As they’re wild animals, there’s no guarantee’s you’ll see any, but the guides try their best

You can’t see it from the photo, but it was also a really wavy day on the water.

A lot of water was getting kicked into the boat. Fortunately, we were prepared, and had packed our stuff in dry bags. Our guide tried to keep everyone’s hopes up, as we continued to try and find whales, and endured the waves. He put on a rain coat, and stood right at the front with a toy whale.

Time was up, and we had to start heading back to shore. All we managed to find was small blow, very far in the distance. Too bad. We got back to shore, and it was time to dry off with A short 15 min walk to Foodland. We had a couple of hours until our afternoon snorkelling cruise, and so we decided to enjoy another poke lunch at Foodland. Today, we chose another 2 flavours of poke, and enjoyed it with some of their wonton chips. We also decided to get some of their salt & vinegar fried chicken, fried chicken skins, and chicken karage. We also gave their musubi a try. Winnie & Michael tried the spam musubi, and we tried a chicken musubi. Just like the others, the sadly was not good.

After lunch was time to head back to the marina, and get ready for our second boat ride of the day. We went out with the same tour company, but this time, it was to Try and find turtles while snorkeling. We got out to the spot, and suited up with our snorkels, and it was time to jump into the water. Unfortunately Wincy got a bit of anxiety as she hit the water, and didn’t feel comfortable heading out with us. Winnie also wasn’t feeling super comfortable. We hung out with the less comfortable group while Winnie tried to build more comfort. Our guide had a solution, she was nice enough to give up her buoy

Off we went to try and find some turtles. It was still wavy in Waikiki Bay (aka the Pacific Ocean 😅) but it was bearable. Our guide did manage to find us a couple of turtles while we were snorkeling. The view we got was nothing like our scuba experience though. The turtles we saw were probably 30 - 40 feet away (vs maybe 5 feet away when we were scuba diving.

While we were out with the group, Wincy got an impromptu private snorkeling tour with the boat captain. He felt bad that she was missing out, and got her back into the water and snorkeling around the boat. No turtles for Wincy though, but plenty of fish to see.

After a bit more snorkeling, it was time to head back to the boat, and back to shore. This would end up being Michael’s last boat ride of the day, as the sea-sickness was able to get the better of the Gravol’s he took. When we got back to shore, we gave Michael some time to try and get better. As we hung out on the shore, we saw 2 sport fishing boats come back with their catches. The Marlin got weighed in at 98 pounds (after they decapitated it), and the other boat had several large Mahi Mahi.

After hanging out for a bit longer, Michael had to call it. He felt like he would not survive a 3rd boat ride. So Winnie ordered him an Uber back to the hotel, so he could get some rest. After the Uber arrived, we still had some time before the sunset catamaran cruise. We walked around, and found a small food truck park and decided to grab a snack. We grabbed an order of Shrimp & Chips to share. The fries were very well seasoned, but the shrimp was just okay.

After we finished, we went to the cruises booth to check-in. As we were checking in, we noticed a girl had brought over an Açai bowl. We checked with the girl in the booth, and she had no issues, so we went back to the food truck park to get some Açai bowls for the ride.

While we headed out from the harbour was the perfect time to enjoy our treat. This would be our 3rd time today leaving this harbour. After we finished our Açai bowls, we tied up our bag, and went up on the deck to enjoy the fresh air. And great scenary.

Then what we all came for, the sunset arrived.

The way back was much smoother. We were going with the waves. This was a very comfortable ride.

For dinner, we decided to try out Liliha Bakery. We ordered 2 mains to share, a Prime Rib and a Loco Moco, We also decided to order a bowl of Clam Chowder. We were drawn to this, as it was oddly presented in the middle of a menu, as if it was a house specialty. The clam chowder was good, but nothing special. This Loco Moco however, was much better than the one we had a couple days ago. This place added a fantastic portion of gravy! The Prime Rib was also done very well. After we finished the dinner portion, we tried out their custard waffles. While they did taste pretty good, we didn’t think it warranted the hype. This was apparently one of their top ordered/specialty breakfast items.

After we finished dinner, it was still pretty early (around 8:45pm) but this had been a long day, and we had another early day tomorrow.
